Javon Kinlaw’s arrival this offseason as part of the New York Jets defense is big news for Jeff Ulbrich. Literally, big news.
Ulbrich has been the Jets defensive coordinator since 2021. Under his coaching, defensive tackle Quinnen Williams has been named an All-Pro and twice made the Pro Bowl.
The 6-foot-5, 319-pound Kinlaw signed with the Jets this offseason as a free agent. He is coming off a season with the San Francisco 49ers where he had 25 total tackles and a career-high 3.5 sacks.
He is projected to form quote the duo for the Jets alongside Williams, who is 6-foot-3 and 303 pounds.
“Goodness gracious. Have you ever seen a man that made Quinnen Williams look little? It’s unbelievable how big he is, how he moves, how he works,” Ulbrich told reporters (h/t The Sporting News).
The Jets are projected to have one of the top defenses in the NFL this upcoming season.
Their season opens up against Kinlaw’s former team at the 49ers in Week 1.
