New York Jets Named In Viral Trade That Would Impact Aaron Rodgers In Massive Way

The New York Jets are going into the 2024. season with the same expectations they had this time last year: to win the Super Bowl.  Adding Aaron Rodgers to your roster will bring “Super Bowl or Bust” aspirations.  Rodgers will turn 41-years-old by the end of the 2024 season.  His time left in the league is limited to 1-3 years (at best).

The Jets will be doing whatever they can to prove that adding Rodgers wasn’t a mistake, and one trade circulating could do exactly that.

According to Bleacher Report’s scouting department:

Add Now: WR Robert Woods, Houston Texans (trade)

The Jets already have a lot invested in the 2024 season, and pursuing a trade that could fortify an important position would make sense gi

ven their goals.

On paper, the starting trio of Garrett Wilson, Mike Williams and Malachi Corley could do a lot of damage. The reality is that Williams has dealt with multiple injuries and Corley is a rookie who might need more polish before he’s up to Rodgers’ exacting standards at the position.

Finding a cheap veteran could give the Jets’ passing options the small boost they need. Robert Woods is a good fit because he has a ton of experience in a lot of offenses and the versatility to play inside or out. He could slide in for either Williams or Corley at any point, and the Texans have a surplus at wide receiver.

Bleacher Report makes a good point, the Jets really only have one wide receiver who is an established #1 or who doesn’t have a lengthy injury history.  Adding someone like Woods could be huge for their offense, especially if he gains Rodgers’ trust early on (which he most likely would).

Over the last five seasons Woods has averaged:

  • 14 games played a season
  • 100 targets per season
  • 63 receptions per season
  • 715 yards per season
  • Three touchdowns per season

Getting that kind of reliability would be big for any offense.
