New York Jets Shock The NFL By Dealing Superstar Pass-Rusher Haason Reddick To AFC Rival In Blockbuster Trade Proposal

It would be an understatement to say that the New York Jets may be regretting their offseason trade for superstar pass rusher Haason Reddick.

Haason Reddick of Philadelphia Eagles reacts during game.

The Jets acquired Haason Reddick in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles back in March, with a conditional 2026 third-round pick going the other way. The pick will be upgraded to a second-rounder if Reddick plays 67.5 percent of their defensive snaps and records at least 10 sacks.

But Reddick is in the middle of a holdout that has reached two weeks. The 2017 first-round pick is entering the final season of a three-year, $45 million deal he signed with Philadelphia back in the 2023 offseason.

Despite giving up a high price for Haason Reddick, the Jets haven’t been willing to meet his wish for a new deal up to this point. So at the end of the day, New York’s best bet may be to trade Reddick now while his value is high.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine proposed a blockbuster trade idea that has the Jets sending Reddick to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a 2026 third-round draft selection:

“Reddick has had at least 11 sacks in each of the last four campaigns. Baltimore has Justin Madubuike coming back after a breakout season, but Kyle Van Noy led all of their edge-rushers in sacks last season.

This would give them the firepower up front to contend with the powerhouse offenses they will see in the AFC playoffs.”

Baltimore’s front seven needs some help after losing Jadeveon Clowney (signed with the Carolina Panthers) and Patrick Queen (Pittsburgh Steelers) in free agency. The Ravens’ lack of a consistent pass rush was also evident in their 2023 AFC Championship Game loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

So if Reddick is available for the right price, it definitely makes sense for the Raves to explore a trade. A player of Reddick’s caliber just might help them get over the top in a crowded AFC.

Jets Will Likely Retain Haason Reddick For Now
At the end of the day, it’s unlikely that the Jets will trade one of the league’s top sack specialists before Week 1. This is a team in win-now mode with Aaron Rodgers, so keeping Reddick is better than trading him for a day two or three draft pick.
