The Green Bay Packers have a very deep wide receiver core entering the 2024 season. Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks are locks to make the 53-man roster this season. Bo Melton will most likely also make the 53-man roster.
The final wide receiver spot on the roster could be very interesting for the Green Bay Packers. At one point this offseason, it appeared as if Malik Heath was going to be the last receiver who makes this team, but it appears as if that is not going to be the case.
Samori Toure and Grant DuBose have a chance to dethrone Heath on the 53-man roster. It will be interesting to see how the rest of training camp and preseason games go.
Lombardiavenue.com Writer Freddie Boston Thinks That Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Grant DuBose Will Make the 53-Man Roster
Lombardiavenue.com writer Freddie Boston made his predictions for the 53-man roster with preseason games coming up. For the wide receiver position, he thinks that the Green Bay Packers will keep six on the roster. Boston has Watson, Wicks, Doubs, Reed, and Melton making the team.
However, he thinks that Grant DuBose will be the sixth wide receiver on the team over Malik Heath. Freddie Boston said:
“Grant DuBose is a player to watch in the preseason. Cheesehead TV’s Aaron Nagler said the second-year receiver “is making a play every day” on the practice field.
The top four will dominate the snaps this season, and Bo Melton is a safe bet to make the roster after the work he has done since the backend of last year. But if the Packers are open to keeping a sixth receiver, DuBose has the chance to win the job ahead of Malik Heath.
“He had a whole year in our system, learning our offense,” said head coach Matt LaFleur, via Jason B. Hirschhorn of The Leap. “Very detailed guy. Going to give you great effort. Great hands. Can run through the ball. He’s strong. So I’m excited to see what he can do within the preseason and the games.”
Grant DuBose was a seventh-round pick (256th overall selection) in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Charlotte. He did not record any stats last season. DuBose during the 2022 season in college caught 64 passes for 792 yards receiving and nine touchdowns, along with averaging 12.4 yards per catch.
Malik Heath made the roster out of camp last season as an undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss. If DuBose does make the team over Heath, it would be interesting to see if another team would want Malik Heath or not.
