The Green Bay Packers seemed to have done it again. Jordan Love looked every bit of a franchise quarterback during the second half of the 2023 season. They paid him like one this off-season.
The 2020 first-round draft pick inked a $220 million deal with Green Bay just last week.
Shortly after he signed that contract someone legendary reached out to him.
NFL Legend Reached Out To Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love
According to Brian Jones of On3:
Jordan Love signed a huge contract with the Green Bay Packers, which led to Peyton Manning reaching out to him. While speaking to reporters this week, the veteran quarterback revealed the notable stars who reached out to him after signing a four-year, $220 million contract extension.
“I got a lot of texts. My phone was definitely blowing up,” Love said. “Peyton Manning reached out to me. I’ve had a couple of conversations with Peyton.”
Love went on to mention current NFL players who have shown their support. “CJ [Stroud] reached out, Deshaun Watson reached out,” Love revealed. “Those are some of the guys I’m pretty close with. My phone was definitely blowing up. A lot of friends, a lot of family hit me up, so I definitely felt the love and support.”
Manning, who is reportedly producing a Packers docuseries, spent time with Love while visiting Packers training camp last year. “How are you asking to be coached?” Love said Manning asked him at the time, per ESPN.
“Are you a guy that wants to be coached really hard? Are you a guy that kind of just wants to go do your own thing? It all matters. [Manning] said that when he was a player, that was his biggest thing is he wanted to be coached really hard. He always wanted to be told what he was doing wrong and things like that.”
Love has certainly gained attention and notoriety around the league.
After having had an up and down first half of last season, Love had a great second half, throwing 18 touchdown passes and one interception to help the Packers go 6-2 and qualify for the playoffs.
He then threw three touchdown passes in a wild-card win in Dallas and nearly led a divisional-round upset in San Francisco.
Love ranked second in the NFL with 32 touchdown passes and seventh with 4,159 passing yards in his first season as Aaron Rodgers’ replacement. After Bart Starr, Brett Favre, and Aaron Rodgers, Love is now under pressure to become the Packers’ fourth Super Bowl-winning quarterback.
