GREEN BAY – The Green Bay Packers are set to sign former Detroit Lions defensive end Zach Morton, according to a report from ESPN.
The network quoted Morton’s agent, Sean Stellato, on Morton’s agreement.
The Lions signed the 6-foot-5, 261-pound Morton as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He transferred from Syracuse to Akron, where he had 28 tackles and 4½ sacks.
He excelled athletically at his pro day, posting a 35½-inch vertical jump and 10-foot-1 broad jump.
The Packers are without defensive ends Deslin Alexander (lower leg) and Keshawn Banks (groin) and likely needed another player to take some of their snaps.
The Packers did not announce the move. They had a roster spot available after releasing quarterback Jacob Eason on Monday.
The Lions released Morton on Monday.
