Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love received his contract extension last weekend. He was a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Utah State. At the time Love was drafted, a lot of Packers fans seemed confused with the pick.
Aaron Rodgers was still in his prime, but they wanted him to sit and learn behind Rodgers. It turned out that it paid off for the Packers once again. Rodgers also sat and learned behind Brett Favre for a few seasons before he was the full-time starter.
A lot of Green Bay Packers fans can not wait and see to see what Jordan Love can accomplish this season. He has a chance to be a dark horse MVP candidate this season.
CBS Sports Writer Tyler Sullivan Thinks That Green Bay Packers Quarterback Is Unproven Entering the 2024 Season
CBS Sports writer Tyler Sullivan listed five quarterbacks who he felt are “unproven” entering the 2024 season. Daniel Jones of the New York Giants, Bryce Young of the Carolina Panthers, Anthony Richardson of the Indianapolis Colts, and Will Levis of the Tennessee Titans were also on this list. What do all of those quarterbacks have in common?
They are near the bottom of the league in ranked quarterbacks. Jordan Love being in a class with those guys instead of being compared to Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, and Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills is utterly disrespectful.
Sullivan said about Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love:
“When you just became one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL, it’s hard to make an honest case of still needing to prove yourself. Contract aside, however, Love does still need to show that his run down the stretch last season was no fluke. In his first season as the full-time starter following the trade of Aaron Rodgers, Love was a bit choppy out of the gate for the Green Bay Packers. Midway through the year, though, he found his footing and was among the very best quarterbacks in the league. In his final 10 regular-season games, he completed 68.7% of his passes and had a 108.2 passer rating. If that’s the player he is becoming, Love not only is a proven NFL quarterback, but he’s also an MVP candidate. But his rather small sample size does leave enough room for us to want to see him do it again before we place that status on his shoulders.”
Jordan Love last season was second in passing touchdowns. Only Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys had more passing touchdowns than him. Love was also ranked seventh in passing yards last season in the NFL.
The Green Bay Packers do not have a very good backup quarterback situation. Also, when Loves amazes people once again this season, they will finally realize how good he is.
