The Baltimore Ravens or Kansas City Chiefs may sign top free agent safety, Justin Simmons as talks may heat up this upcoming season. According to a report, the Simmons rumor talks may be heating up again since the Broncos are releasing Caden Sterns so they could look to bring him back. One insider believes the Colts could be in sweepstakes for the veteran but one would be wishful thinking if they can bring him in being there are other contenders out there. The Colts’ rival, the Titans have been active these past weeks after signing Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs so they may sign one to keep up with competition.
Simmons is probably one of the most underrated players in the league today, notching Second Team All-Pro in four of the last five seasons. He’s arguably one of the best ballhawks in NFL history with 30 interceptions across eight seasons under his belt. However, no one should expect a reunion with the Broncos even though it makes too much sense for both sides. The 30-year-old wants to join a contending team which isn’t surprising with the years he’s been putting in with a lackluster roster for the last few seasons.
There haven’t been any visits for Simmons but teams acknowledge the fact that he’s the best available. One of those rosters is the Ravens who are still looking to add depth at the safety position. However, Simmons would emerge as a solid rotating starter alongside Kyle Hamilton and Marcus Williams. He wouldn’t budge about joining a Super Bowl-contending team if it means a run for a ring.
The Chiefs are another team that is looking to add secondary help after losing their star power L’Jarius Sneed this offseason to the Titans.

Other Possible Destinations
New Orleans Saints
The Saints would need to be creative about what they can bring to get some type of hope in New Orleans. Marcus Maye isn’t coming back but they need to come up with a plan to see who can fill shoes alongside Tyrann Mathieu. The perfect man for that job would probably be Justin Simmons even though he’s getting older he gets better every season However, they have one of the worst offenses in the league with Derek Carr on the hot seat already so they need some type of star power to give Carr as many snaps as possible come week one.
It would only happen with Simmons and Mathieu in the no-fly zone era which could make opposing offenses crack.
Los Angeles Chargers
Safety isn’t the biggest need but the offense on paper looks terrible for Justin Herbert this upcoming season. They want to make sure they win bowl games and they can’t do that if even their defense isn’t up to par. Simmons could easily fill the shoes of someone like Alohi Gilman to build a new duo with Derwin James. However, Gilman does show some promise but nothing special in terms of getting after the ball quickly.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys probably have bigger worries on their defense like the cornerback position which is true but the safety looks a little bland. Donovan Wilson and Malik Hooker are two solid starters but injuries do happen in the league after what the Cowboys were seeing last season with Trevon Diggs. They were lucky to have someone like Stephon Gilmore who isn’t around anymore to fill in. This is something they should consider especially if they want to build a championship defense under Mike Zimmer.
