Rumors that the Seattle Seahawks and Connor Williams have mutual interest have been swirling for a few weeks now, but a new report suggests a deal may be imminent.
Agent Drew Rosenhaus went on The Joe Rose Show to discuss the Tyreek Hill contract extension that was recently announced. He would also suggest that his client, free agent center Connor Willliams was actively negotiating with the Seahawks, among other teams.
“He’s in negotiations with the Seahawks,” Rosenhaus said. “There’s a few other teams. I wouldn’t be surprised if Connor signs within the next 48-72 hours. It’s a wonderful development for Connor, who had a heartbreaking injury in the Titans Monday night game. He was on his way to a Pro Bowl season and a lucrative contract extension. Tore his ACL. And this guy fought so hard–we weren’t even sure he was going to play this year, and now he’s going to be ready to play in the first game of the season. It’s probably, in my career, one of the greatest comebacks I’ve ever seen.”
Per Seahawks beat reporter Corbin K. Smith, “It would be a major surprise if Williams isn’t a Seahawk by end of this week.”
A healthy Williams would certainly be a welcome addition to a Seahawks offensive line that looks to improve upon a dismal 2023 season. No word yet on how quickly Williams would be ready to go if he signs.
Update: ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Baltimore Ravens are one of the teams Williams is meeting with. The Ravens have a Pro Bowl center in Tyler Linderbaum, but it’s possible they view Williams as a guard after losing Kevin Zeitler and John Simpson in the offseason.
