Rob Gronkowski Doubts 1 Touted Team Will Win Super Bowl

Plenty of people expect the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers to once again meet in the Super Bowl this season, but there is plenty of room for a new challenger or two to end up playing for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

PHOENIX, ARIZONA - FEBRUARY 13: The Vince Lombardi Trophy is seen during a press conference at Phoenix Convention Center on February 13, 2023 in Phoenix, Arizona.

One team that some feel has a great chance of doing so is the New York Jets, with future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers under center and a talented cast around him on both sides of the football.

Retired tight end Rob Gronkowski, who won four Super Bowl championships, said on “First Things First” that though he expects the Jets to make the playoffs, he doesn’t think they will win it all.

“I see the Jets having success and making the playoffs. I don’t really see a Super Bowl,” Gronkowski said.

On paper, the Jets certainly seem to have what they need to challenge for the championship, but there are legitimate concerns.

Of course, the 10,000-pound elephant in the room is the fact that Rodgers tore his Achilles in Week 1 of last season and that he has accumulated 15 years of wear and tear as a starting quarterback.

New York’s offensive line was very weak last season, and though they brought in veteran left tackle Tyron Smith, an eight-time Pro Bowler, that group is still a question mark.

On the other hand, they have two legitimate wide receiver threats in Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams, a rising stud at running back in Breece Hall, and a very strong and talented defense.

If the Chiefs falter in their bid for a Super Bowl three-peat, the window could end up being ajar for the Jets to make an extended playoff run.
