The Seattle Seahawks are hoping to have a second straight +5.00 season. Geno Smith was a pleasant surprise for the #12 faithful. Seattle finished 9-8, narrowly missing the playoffs.
Much of their offensive core is returning from 2023. Most notably Geno Smith, Tyler Lockett, DK Smith, and Kenneth Walker III. However, one of these stars is quickly becoming an easy fan to disklike.
Seattle Seahawks Fans Livid With Star Wideout After Boneheaded Decision
It was no different for the Seahawks practice on Wednesday with numerous fights going on across the league as football season approaches.
NBC’s NFL Network caught the fight between two Seahawk players live on the field. A video shows Metcalf taking the helmet off of one of his teammates and swinging it at one of his teammates, striking him hard on the top of the head.
As seen in the video, the other teammates were incredibly quick to get in between and try to stop it from escalating further. They eventually restrained Metcalf, and had him cool of from the situation.
The star receiver is known to have a tough and fiery personality on and off the field. It can be seen in how he plays and how he handles himself. This has also however, led him to getting multiple conduct penalties in his career with the Seahawks.
He was even ejected from a game against the San Francisco 49ers this previous season, after shoving the opposing teams defensive back Deommodore Lenoir. From this, it seems, that these issues have been persisting somewhat, and this can’t affect a team in a productive manner heading into the season.
Metcalf has been candid that he doesn’t see a reason to change the way he is and that he’s doing just fine so far:
“I’m doing pretty good if I look at it and judge myself, how I play,” said the star wide receiver following a game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
“I just try to be consistent and have clean hands or whatever the case may be, but I’m not going to change who I am as a player or a person.”
This fight involved the use of a helmet as a weapon but there have been plenty of scuffles around the league.
When fans saw this, they reacted accordingly on social media:
According to Daniel Yerushalmi:
NFL network was right on the scene to capture the fight between the two Seahawk players on the field. The star receiver Metcalf can be seen to take the helmet off of a teammate and then swing it at one of his teammates, Myles Garrett-style, hitting him hard on the top of his head.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out with the fans in the future.
