To say that things got a little out of hand for the Seattle Seahawks during Wednesday’s practice would be an understatement. This is after two-time Pro Bowler D.K. Metcalf was at the center of a violent altercation at what was clearly a heated moment in practice.
The cameras caught the action too, which leaves no doubt as to Metcalf’s intentions.
Seattle Seahawks News: D.K. Metcalf Swings Helmet at Teammate
Metcalf is not exactly the most level-headed player in Seattle, and this was on full display during Wednesday’s practice. In the two-second video below, the 26-year-old is seen hitting his own teammate on the head with a helmet.
You can clearly see Metcalf putting in some real heat in his swing/throw, which indicates that this was far from a friendly encounter. It’s a good thing that his teammate was wearing a helmet — or at least it seems that way — because this could have been much uglier if he did not have ample head protection.
It is unclear what caused the incident as well as why Metcalf acted the way he did — against his own teammate, no less. There is no denying, however, that there is no lack of intensity and competitive spirit in Seattle’s training camp thus far.
As expected, this now-viral clip has garnered all sorts of reactions on the mean streets of X.
The Seahawks kick off their preseason on Saturday with a preseason matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Let’s just hope Metcalf and Co. direct all that bottled-up aggression at their opponents instead of turning on each other.
