Star Trek: Picard Actor Praises Jeri Ryan, Says Seven Of Nine Fight Was “10 Or 15%” Of What Was Planned

Summary

  • Jeri Ryan’s kindness and talent impressed Peyton List during their fight scene in Star Trek: Picard season 1.
  • The dramatic fight between Narissa and Seven of Nine was only a small fraction of what was rehearsed.
  • The epic battle in the season finale was extensively choreographed but only a fraction made it to air.

Peyton List as Narissa and Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine in Star Trek: Picard

Peyton List praises Jeri Ryan but says Narissa’s fight with Seven of Nine in Star Trek: Picard season 1 was only a fraction of what was intended. List played the Romulan villain Narissa in Star Trek: Picard season 1. A member of the fanatical Romulan sect called the Zhat Vash, Narissa and her brother Narek (Harry Treadaway) were on a mission to destroy the planet Coppelius, the homeworld of a race of synthetics that Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and his motley crew, which included Seven of Nine, sought to protect.

Appearing as a guest on The D-Con Chamber podcast, Peyton List had nothing but compliments for Jeri Ryan, who she worked with in Star Trek: Picard season 1’s finale. Hosts Dominic Keating and Connor Trinneer also asked List about her climactic fight scene with Ryan, and Peyton reveals that what was seen in Picard’s season 1 ender was a lot less than the epic slugfest List and Ryan spent a week rehearsing. Read Peyton’s quote and watch her D-Con Chamber interview below:

[Jeri Ryan] was amazing. She was really unnecessarily kind and cool with me… That fight was probably… I think what actually made it to air was 10 [or] 15% of what was choreographed and what we rehearsed. We rehearsed that for a week. It was a really long fight. It was really extensive. They had stunt doubles on wires and poles. It was really, really elaborate, the way it was choreographed and how we learned it [compared] to what was actually shot and what we actually used.

What Happened When Seven Of Nine Fought Narissa In Star Trek: Picard?

It was one of Seven of Nine’s first big action scenes

Star Trek: Picard season 1 revamped Star Trek: Voyager’s Seven of Nine into an action hero, which culminated in Seven’s dramatic brawl with Narissa in Star Trek: Picard season 1’s finale, “Et in Arcadia Ego, Part II.” Seven had already displayed her action chops as a Fenris Ranger earlier in Star Trek: Picard season 1, and Seven owed Narissa payback after the Romulan blew thousands of innocent Borg drones into space. Seven of Nine found Narissa aboard the Borg Cube Artifact, and they battled it out until Narissa fell to her death.

Peyton List’s stint as a remorseless Romulan big bad was memorable.

Seven of Nine’s newly-minted action prowess was the first step in Star Trek: Picard’s ultimate goal to make her a Starfleet Captain. Indeed, not only did Seven of Nine join Starfleet but Star Trek: Picard season 3 ended with Seven of Nine becoming Captain of the USS Enterprise-G. setting up her own proposed spinoff dubbed Star Trek: Legacy. As for Narissa, Peyton List’s stint as a remorseless Romulan big bad was memorable, but her story ended with Star Trek: Picard season 1.
