Steelers’ Depth Chart Unveils Exciting New Starting Offensive Line

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ offseason has left fans feeling optimistic. Over the past two seasons, the team has done a great job adding young talent to their offensive line. This trend continued during the 2024 NFL Draft, where the Steelers followed their successful strategy from 2023.

In the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Steelers made a significant move by selecting Troy Fautanu with the 20th overall pick. They further strengthened their line in the second round by securing Zach Frazier, the center they had targeted. Additionally, they found a promising guard, Mason McCormick, in the fourth round. All three rookies are expected to play key roles in shaping the future of the Steelers’ offensive line.

There has been much speculation about the starting offensive line for the upcoming season. Pundits are debating whether Fautanu, Frazier, or McCormick will make the starting lineup. Of the three, Fautanu is the most likely to have an immediate impact. Frazier, meanwhile, is expected to eventually secure a starting spot, though he may not do so by Week 1.

The Steelers’ offensive line depth chart features a solid lineup designed to enhance the team’s performance. The new depth chart was revealed on Tuesday. At right tackle, Broderick Jones is expected to build on his rookie season. Known for his strong blocking skills, Jones showed significant promise in his debut year and is anticipated to take an even greater step forward in 2024.

James Daniels, stationed at right guard, provides a formidable presence with his powerful run-blocking abilities. McCormick, listed as the backup to Daniels, joins the Steelers as a promising sleeper pick from a small college. Though it may take some time for McCormick to secure a starting role, he has impressed the team during training camp and could become a consistent starter in the near future.

At center, Nate Herbig plays a crucial role in snapping the ball and maintaining offensive rhythm. Currently, Frazier is listed as the backup, but this is likely to change as the season progresses. The Steelers are expected to give Frazier opportunities to compete for a starting spot as the season unfolds. Some pundits believe he will be the starter by Week 1.

Dan Moore Jr. is the current left tackle. Moore’s performance during the 2023 season was a topic of much debate, with some Steelers fans expressing dissatisfaction with his play. Fautanu, listed as the backup left tackle, is expected to challenge Moore for the starting role. It’s possible that Fautanu could take over the position before Week 1. If he doesn’t start the season as the primary left tackle, he may follow a similar path to Jones, making an impact in his rookie year. Just not from the start of the season.

Steelers’ Mike Tomlin Commanding The Offensive Line To Be Great In 2024

Together, these players form a well-rounded and formidable offensive front. The Steelers’ offensive line is poised for improvement, and Head Coach Mike Tomlin has high expectations for the unit in 2024.

The team has heavily invested in the offensive line, and while the rookies aren’t starters yet, they could earn starting spots before the season begins. Steelers fans are eager to see how the depth chart will shape up when the season kicks off against the Atlanta Falcons.
