Team USA: Jayson Tatum Appears To Echo Vince Staples’ Warning After Humbling Olympic Stint

Team USA got what it wanted in Paris, as it won the gold medal in the men’s basketball tournament at the 2024 Olympics. However, the Americans’ trip to France was not without controversy, especially one that concerned the playing time — or lack thereof — for Boston Celtics star forward Jayson Tatum.

It still is the talk of the town even after the Olympics, and the discussion has gotten more fuel after Tatum shared on his Instagram account a recent post on X (formerly Twitter) by musician Vince Staples.

Staples wrote “WE WILL AVENGE JAYSON TATUM” on X then was reposted by Tatum via Instagram Stories.

It is possible that Tatum simply felt giddy over seeing such support from someone of Staples’ stature. Staples is a superstar in his own right and even Tatum may have been surprised to see someone like him post a strong message.

But the best form of revenge for Tatum will be to win the NBA championship with the Celtics — again.

As the reigning and defending NBA champions, Tatum and the Celtics have a big target on their back. And unlike his role with Team USA, Tatum is going to be a vital weapon that needs to be on high usage all the time if the Celtics are to pull off a rare back-to-back feat in the NBA.

Last season, Tatum averaged 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game.
