Teen Mom Maci Bookout McKinney sat down with her ex, Ryan Anderson’s, new girlfriend.
Many Teen Mom viewers have seen Maci and Ryan trying to co-parent their son Bentley and the obstacles they had to go through to be where they are now. On the Thursday, August 1 episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Maci spoke to Ryan’s new girlfriend, Amanda, but this was not the first time.
Maci revealed that the two actually knew each other since they went to school together. Some might not recall but Amanda was also Maci’s 16 and Pregnant episode. Amanda and Ryan met in rehab.
Before sitting down with Amanda for lunch, Maci told Ryan’s mother: “Ryan and I have worked really hard over the last couple of years to have just a more stable co-parenting relationship and therapy and Al-Anon has made me confident in creating new relationships. So, I’m going to lunch.”
Amanda opened up about being kicked out of public schools for drugs, fighting and getting in trouble. The new girlfriend was also arrested at a young age. She admitted that it took her long to learn after going “through the ringer” and does not want go through that again. Maci revealed that Amanda attended adult high school after getting pregnant as a teenager as well.
Amanda was sober for two years before her recent visit to rehab. She told Maci that she relapsed after her parents died. Amanda has now been sober for over a year and Maci told Amanda she was proud of her
She said: “My mom was addicted to drugs. She was always in active addiction, and then she started using with me. I don’t want to make out like she was a bad parent. She was young. And then shortly after, my father got bone cancer, Stage 4, and passed away. Which is also not an excuse to go back out, but it was very hard.
Jen admitted that she was hesitant about Amanda and Ryan’s relationship, which Maci also seemed to be in agreement with, but Amanda reassured them that she and Ryan agreed that if either of them were to relapse, they had to end things.
