WWE star The Miz has made quite a surprising claim regarding Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James. On NBA Today, The Miz was asked if the Olympics presented LeBron James with his last opportunity to win a championship of any kind and he stated that isn’t the case, because of Bronny.
“Are you kidding me? Bronny James is in Los Angeles. Bronny James is taking the Lakers to the Promised Land,” Miz said. “I actually wish that the Cavaliers drafted Bronny so then they can get LeBron (James) and then it would (Donovan Mitchell), LeBron, Bronny, (Darius) Garland, (Evan) Mobley and be amazing. And we’d go all the way to the NBA Finals.”
This had to be at least a little bit in jest from The Miz. Bronny only averaged 8.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game for the Lakers in the Summer League. He also shot just 35.0% from the field and 15.8% from beyond the arc.
Bronny is nowhere near ready to play significant minutes in the NBA as of now. The 19-year-old is a very raw prospect and while he could potentially develop into a solid NBA player one day, the 39-year-old LeBron would have retired by then.
Staying with LeBron, I don’t think the Olympics presents his last shot at winning a title of any kind. He is still playing at a fairly high level, with averages of 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 8.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game for the Lakers in 2023-24. If they surround the 20-time All-Star with some more talent he could lead the team to glory.
The Miz Named Five NBA Stars Who Could Be WWE Superstars
We have had some NBA players step into the wrestling ring over the years. Karl Malone, Dennis Rodman, and Shaquille O’Neal are names that come to mind and The Miz was asked to name five NBA stars who could be WWE superstars.
“No. 5 is going to be Tyrese Haliburton,” The Miz said. “Why? Because after defeating the Knicks in the playoffs, he goes to Madison Square Garden and literally calls out Jalen Brunson. I mean, that is what it’s all about right there. That’s what people wanted to see and let me tell you something, the guy got booed out of the building in Madison Square Garden.
“No. 4 is LeBron James,” The Miz continued. “He is my GOAT. Greatest of all time. Why you may ask? Because he brought Cleveland a championship. He said, ‘Yo, I’m going to get you a championship and I got you a championship.’ And he’s going to bring home the gold for the Team USA this time in Paris.
“Now No. 3, Draymond Green,” The Miz stated. “Whether it is on his podcast or on the court, he is always creating controversy that you want to hear that you want to see and he’s always entertaining. Got to love it.
“No. 2, Michael Jordan,” The Miz said. “Everybody else’s seem to be GOAT… I would love to see him in the ring against my GOAT, LeBron, to see who really is the greatest of all time. Is it MJ? Is it LeBron? We can only tell in a WWE ring.
“No. 1, Sir Charles (Barkley) baby,” The Miz added. “In his heyday, there was no one better, no one more outspoken. I loved watching Charles Barkley. He was the original bad boy before being a bad boy was cool.”
That is quite the list. In case anyone is wondering why The Miz feels so strongly about LeBron being the GOAT, the 43-year-old is from Parma, Ohio. He is a huge Cleveland Cavaliers fan and included franchise legend Mark Price as a bonus selection here as well.
