The Philadelphia Eagles Will Trade Jalen Hurts to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Philadelphia Eagles are entering a pivotal first half of the season coming off losing five of the last six games including the playoffs to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If things don’t start better for the Eagles, a full on rebuild could, and should, take place and that includes a change at quarterback. That change is done by the Eagles trading Jalen Hurts.

Hurts has risen to being a top quarterback in the NFL, especially after 2022 where he threw for 4,280 yards and 25 touchdowns with just six interceptions while rushing for 901 yards and 18 touchdowns. There are areas Hurts needs to work on that have limited the Eagles, like underthrowing receivers and not having a consistent throwing motion. That still doesn’t take away from the talent Hurts is, he just needs to refine areas of his game. That just won’t be with the Eagles.

The team that will be for is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers are in a spot where they could go through a retool. Todd Bowles is on the hot seat, but the Buccaneers still have plenty of talent and being in a division like the NFC South would still be competitive. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are both experienced receivers that could further help Hurts develop. Not to mention, with Liam Coen as the offensive coordinator, who knows how to utilize mobile quarterbacks like he showcased with Will Levis at Kentucky, would help Hurts translate into the new system.

The Buccaneers currently have Baker Mayfield under center, but he is 29. Mayfield is a good quarterback, but he won’t raise the ceiling for the Buccaneers’ offense like Hurts would. If the Eagles are struggling and the Buccaneers want to remain at the top of the division, they need to trade for Hurts.
