The Detroit Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers may be going into the 2024 season with similar expectations. Detroit is coming off a season in which they fell just three points shy of reaching the Super Bowl. The Steelers feel that Russell Wilson could take their franchise to that next level.
Now these two teams are drawing trade talks from around the league prior to the start of the season.
The Detroit Lions And Pittsburgh Steelers Suddenly Enthralled In Trade Rumors
It was recently reported by Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine that a third-round pick may be enough to acquire Pittsburgh Steelers star interior defensive lineman Cameron Heyward from the Lions:
The Detroit Lions should be all in on getting to the Super Bowl after making the NFC Championship Game last season. That means taking some big swings when they present themselves.
Pursuing an accomplished veteran like Cam Heyward could be the move that puts them over the top. The Lions came up short against the 49ers in part because they gave up 34 points, 4.7 yards per carry and only sacked Brock Purdy twice.
Adding Heyward to the interior of a defensive line that already has Aidan Hutchinson, Alim McNeill, Marcus Davenport and DJ Reader could be the difference in those big games.
Heyward is 35-years-old entering the 2024 season. He has spent his entire 13-year career with the Steelers, it would be shocking to see Pittsburgh move on from him now.
