Jax Taylor addressed cheating rumors, his separation from Brittany Cartwright, and the potentially upcoming reunion for The Valley while attending the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday.
As Brittany, 35, described their current relationship as “friendly,” the Vanderpump Rules alum, 44, reacted to claims of an affair with his publicist, shared what he’s working on amid his and Brittany’s split, and expressed gratitude over his invite to Washington, D.C.
“I’m overwhelmed. I’m just in awe that I’m here. That I was invited to something so extravagant. Like I said, I’m speechless, I’m honored to be here,” Jax told Entertainment Tonight on April 27.
As Brittany also attended the event, Jax joked that when it came to whether the night out was a date night or a friendly outing, it depended “on how much [they had] to drink tonight.”
“We’re just trying to figure things out. I’ve given you real-time, I don’t know what’s going to happen. I am definitely working on myself right now,” he explained, admitting he’s learned a lot watching himself on The Valley.
“I need to communicate better. My delivery’s really awful. I have a very short fuse. I need to learn to live in the moment, be present. I need to learn patience. I got a lot of work to do,” he shared.
“[But] I always said no matter what I’m always gonna put the good even if there’s bad cause people are dealing with these things and I want to be able to share,” he continued.
As for claims of cheating, Jax denied any such thing.
“No no, and everybody just assumes when there’s a split there’s infidelity and there’s cheating. Believe it or not, there are other reasons too. I know I don’t have the best track record but no this was just a communication thing,” he clarified.
Then, speaking specifically of his publicist, Lori, whom Brittany recently unfollowed, Jax complained, “Oh, that, not again.”
“That was all just hearsay, and it’s just a shame that that happened. But yeah, no, nothing happened there,” he stated.
Looking ahead, Jax said that he hopes he and Brittany will ultimately reconcile.
“The separation has definitely been good for me, but I do miss her. I miss her a lot. So, I don’t know, we’ll see if she’ll take me back,” he shared.
Jax is also hoping The Valley gets a reunion. In fact, he seemed confident that it will.
“It’s gonna be a little crazy, and when I created this show that wasn’t my intention,” he explained.
At the same event, Brittany offered an update on where she and Jax stood.
“We’re friendly,” Brittany told PEOPLE, adding that they were in the “same hotel, different rooms.”
“That’s really all I want to say about him,” she concluded.
In March, while attending The Valley premiere, Brittany said she “really needed to step back from” her marriage to Jax, suggesting to PEOPLE that she had hit her “breaking point.”
“Something like clicked in my head, and I was like. ‘I need to step away from this situation. This is not not healthy. This is not a good situation. My son deserves better. I deserve better,’” she recalled, signaling to her and Jax’s three-year-old son, Cruz.
“I feel a little bit of relief,” she added. “I needed this space.”
