The Las Vegas Raiders have done a much better job with this regime, of getting good, hidden, undervalued talent into the building. Sure, we haven’t actually seen the players this regime has gotten, play yet, but, you can look at the names and what some of these guys have done in college and tell it’s a huge difference.
Outside of the rookies who the Raiders drafted, who we are seeing doing great at training camp down in Southern California, the Raiders brought in a good group of undrafted free-agent rookies. There aren’t a lot of holes on this roster, but there are opportunities to compete for a spot. Those guys are going to get to.
And, one guy already is, as he had a stellar day on Friday during the team scrimmage period. There is a quarterback battle going on right now, and those two guys — Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew, are throwing the ball to whoever gets open, because they want to make the right decision and win the battle. So, one of the UDFAs is doing just that.
According to several beat writers and reporters on site in Costa Mesa, California, UDFA Remal Keyton from Tennessee, had himself a great day on Friday. He had a good set of individuals, and when the team periods came, the 11-on-11 where the offense battles the defense, he stepped up big time.
Keyton had a few catches on the day, but none was bigger than the touchdown he had on a throw from Gardner Minshew.
With Davante Adams out with the birth of his child, Michael Gallup retiring and Jalen Guyton injured as well, there is room for reps to go around, and with Gallup gone, there may be room to compete for a roster spot if he does well enough.
Keyton has the physical traits to be very good. He’s very built, strong, and fast, but he just has to put it all together. Maybe he’s doing that now.
