Kansas City Chiefs kicker Matt Araiza broke the internet by delivering an absolute moonshot of a punt during practice.
The Chiefs signed Matt Araiza to be their new punter following the departure of two-time Super Bowl champion Tommy Townsend, who signed a two-year deal with the Houston Texans in free agency.
As if the defending Super Bowl champions weren’t already tough enough to deal with on offense and defense, they now have a new secret weapon who can turn the tide on special teams.
In a video that has quickly gone viral, Matt Araiza was seen booting a 75-yard punt straight into the air:

Townsend was one of the league’s more reliable punters during his four-year run with the Chiefs. Incredibly, the defending champions may have still found an upgrade at the position in Matt Araiza.
The Chiefs have the league’s best player (Patrick Mahomes), tight end (Travis Kelce), coach (Andy Reid) and GM (Brett Veach). They also bring back a defense that finished second in scoring (just 17.3 points allowed per game).
Though Kansas City’s offense struggled through the regular season, they still did more than enough in the postseason to secure a second straight Super Bowl. But their offense should be even better in 2024 following the additions of Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown and promising rookie Xavier Worthy
And now, it looks like they have found themselves a new special teams difference-maker in Matt Araiza.
Kansas City Chiefs Aim For First Super Bowl Three-Peat
The Chiefs’ victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 58 marked the first Super Bowl repeat since the 2003 and ’04 New England Patriots. No team in history has won three straight Super Bowls, but the 2024 Chiefs are well-equipped to become the first club to do so.
