Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown suffered an injury after catching a pass from Patrick Mahomes in the team’s preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

On the Chiefs’ first play from scrimmage, Mahomes found Marquise Brown for an 11-yard gain. But ‘Hollywood’ suffered a concerning-looking shoulder injury on the tackle and had to leave:

The Chiefs announced on X/Twitter that he’s questionable to return with a shoulder injury.

Brown signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs worth up to $11 million in the offseason following a two-year stint with the Arizona Cardinals. He’ll compete with sophomore Rashee Rice and prized rookie Xavier Worthy for the Chiefs’ No. 1 receiver role.

The 2019 first-round pick has battled numerous injuries over the last two years, missing a total of eight games during his tenure with Arizona. Marquise Brown had 51 receptions for 574 yards and four touchdowns in 14 games last year, though the inconsistent production was largely due to Kyler Murray missing most of the year.

Brown had his best season in 2021, hauling 91 receptions for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns in what would be his last year with the Baltimore Ravens. Though he hasn’t come close to reaching 1,000 yards since, Brown surpassed the 700-yard mark in 2020 and 2022.

For his career, Marquise Brown has 313 receptions for 3,644 yards and 28 touchdowns.

Marquise Brown Will Make Chiefs Debut Against Former Team

Fittingly, Brown’s first game with the Kansas City Chiefs will come against his old team, the Ravens, in the NFL Kickoff Game at Arrowhead Stadium on Sept. 5. This will be a rematch of the 2023 AFC Championship Game, which Kansas City won 17-10 en route to a second straight Super Bowl title.

Will Hollywood get the last laugh on his old team, or will the Ravens remind him that they made the right decision to trade him after just three years? We’ll find out soon enough.
