Defenses should beware of the budding connection between Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown.
This offseason, the Chiefs signed Brown to a one-year, $7M deal to revamp their passing attack. Thus far, it looks like a smart move. The team’s X account shared a clip of the 27-year-old making an impressive one-handed catch during a drill in Tuesday’s practice.

Don’t be surprised if Brown keeps making exciting plays in camp. The speedy pass-catcher — who runs a 4.27-second 40-yard dash, per the team website — seems to suit head coach Andy Reid’s offense. Fleet-footed WRs, including DeSean Jackson and Tyreek Hill, have thrived in Reid’s system.
Last season, the Chiefs’ inconsistent receiving corps limited Mahomes’ ability to air it out. In 16 games, the two-time MVP averaged a career-low 261.4 passing yards per game. That shouldn’t be the case in 2024. In The Athletic’s Scoop City newsletter, Dianna Russini reported the QB has been “launching bombs” to Brown and rookie WR Xavier Worthy in training camp.
“The room is just different types of players now,” WR Skyy Moore said Sunday after practice, via Fox Sports’ Henry McKenna. “We’re stacked. We’ve got everything you want in a receiver room. I feel like we’ve got one of the best receiver rooms in the league.”
Adding Brown and Worthy could help Mahomes reenter the MVP conversation in 2024. As of Tuesday, FanDuel lists him as the favorite (+500) to win the award ahead of Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen and Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud.
