Watch: Ravens Cut Candidate Makes Roster Case With Insane Catch

The best of training camp is always watching the roster battles play out in real time. The Baltimore Ravens selected Tylan Wallace in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, but the Oklahoma State product has struggled to catch on with the team. Through three seasons, the wideout has recorded just seven receptions for 67 yards while making a handful of splash plays on special teams. However, while he has yet to do much for the regular season offense, this impressive training camp clip could play a role in helping him earn another shot in 2024.

During Thursday’s practice, Tylan Wallace made an insane catch between two defenders. Hauling in a dangerous pass, the receiver absorbed a massive hit, bounced off the contact, and made it into the endzone for a touchdown.

It should go without saying that one catch will not make or break Tylan Wallace’s chances of making the Week 1 roster. Historically speaking, most receivers don’t break out this late in their career, and the ones that do usually have a good reason for not doing so earlier. For example, Julian Edelman didn’t establish himself as a legitimate threat until his fifth year in the league, but he exclusively played quarterback in college and was trapped behind Wes Welker on New England’s depth chart. Wallace doesn’t have those excuses, as Baltimore needed receivers to step up at various points over the past few seasons.

However, this doesn’t mean Wallace can’t make the roster. Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Nelson Agholor, and rookie Devontez Walker are roster locks, and Deonte Harty should also make the cut. This leaves Tylan Wallace battling for maybe one final spot on the roster, and this catch will help his case. If he can continue to impress in training camp and the regular season while maintaining a role on special teams, he should be able to stick around for one more season.
