In a recent article ranking every wide receiver trio in the NFL ahead of the 2024 campaign, the Detroit Lions’ group landed in the top half of the league, which was better than expected.

According to the Sporting News’ Tyler Greenawalt, the Lions’ trio of Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams and Kalif Raymond landed at No. 12 on the list, a ranking that is extremely fair when you consider the circumstances at the position.

There is no debating that St. Brown is not only one of the best slot receivers in the NFL, he’s one of the best, period. However, things drop off significantly after that when it comes to Williams and Raymond.

As much as I like Raymond and what he’s done in Detroit, he’s ideally a No. 4 option on the depth chart. Adding to that, Williams still has something to prove going into his third season.

The loss of Josh Reynolds, who had the second-most receiving yards among wideouts in 2023, hurt the Lions’ depth and made it more important for Detroit to add to the position, whether that be in free agency or the 2024 NFL draft.

As is, the Lions have a good situation in their passing game despite their question marks at wide receiver thanks to a pair of stars in St. Brown and Sam LaPorta. That said, they could still use more help at wide receiver.
